Local, Outdoor AC Surge Protection

The MCG 530P addresses the need for local outdoor surge protection of single phase loads 240VAC and less. “Local” meaning it is often installed right at the equipment it is protecting, but not limited to this type of installation. Using a compact NEMA 4X rated enclosure just under 8.5” tall and 7” wide, the 530P finds itself guarding HVAC roof top units, outdoor condensers, signage, ATM, pool and spa equipment, and is very popular with gate controllers. It can also be used for small AC panel protection as well or embedded within a piece of larger equipment.

It is a modular unit that is easily field serviceable, so the whole unit does not have to get shipped back to us in the rare case a repair is needed. Instead, if your module or fuses fails, we ship you new ones per our warranty, which is 20 years on the whole unit and lifetime on the field replaceable protection module and fuses. This unit does not leave you guessing as to its state of operation, it has 4 or 5 (depending on voltage) bright LEDs that let you know it is functioning at 100%. With 100kA total surge current capacity, the 530P is capable of handling whatever mother nature or manmade surges may be thrown her way. Unit uses thermally protected and monitored metal oxide varistors due to their reliability and long life. Comes with EMI/RFI noise filtering as standard, and has an optional remote relay contacts and beeper with mute switch, for monitoring.

Don’t need the enclosure? The 530P can be purchased without the enclosure as an OEM solution that can be mounted within your existing cabinet. Both models are UL 1449 4th Ed Listed/Recognized.
